Greetings fellow citizens of the internet, my name is James T. Tynion IV, and I am generally pretty awesome. Here is an awesome drawing of me, so you can see for yourself:
Like a handful of Scrabblegorians, I grew up in Milwaukee, WI, although I happen to be the only current poster to have never attended college at UW Madison. I probably just tricked them into letting me into their hearts so I could get to post on a free blog! I am so very clever, I amaze even myself. I went to school out east at Sarah Lawrence College, although a certain Mr. Noah J has continuously asserted that a college without exams or grades doesn't count. I think he is actually just jealous (although he shouldn't be, because roughly 100 pages of quality, in-depth essays as a culmination of three independent studies at the end of every semester really does count as an exam equivalent. Jerk.) My focus at Sarah Lawrence was a rough mix of Creative Writing and Film History, and a general preoccupation with horror directed my final year of school.
I am currently an editorial intern at Vertigo, the branch of DC Comics that published The Sandman, Y: The Last Man, and Preacher, among others. When I am all growed up I want to be either a Comic Book Writer or a Comic Book Editor, so I think I'm roughly on the right track. I have roughly two full months to trick them into keeping me, so I'm hard at work being a pretty likable guy (I hope). I also have a few side projects going on the comics front, one being a weekly (for the most part) webcomic called Something Is Killing the Children (I can't wait till we reveal what the something is, although that's prolly not for another many many months) with my artist friend, Mr. Joe Kuenzle. And a real comic book, which is probably a long way from existing, but you can check out a page of it here, cuz I'm a nice guy, and my collaborator's (Ms. Mae Liboiron) work is beautiful.
Expect my posts to usually contain musings on films, horror in particular, comic books, and the occasional ill-informed political rant (Particularly if things go as badly as they could a few weeks from now). Maybe I shall discuss a book or two, or perhaps something else will take my attention in a grossly different direction that I CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE! It shall be glorious, either way!
Consider me introduced! To all of you! Huzzah!
